Grand Opening of Boron Neutron Capture Treatment Center Unveils New Hope for Cancer Treatment

On May 27, 2024, Taiwan's medical community celebrated a historic moment: Taiwan's first Boron Neutron Capture Therapy Center was inaugurated at the Hsinchu Hospital of the Chinese University of Medicine. This is a memorable and exciting moment, marking a major breakthrough in the field of medical technology in Taiwan. The opening of the Boron Neutron Capture Center is not only the birth of a new center, but also a new breakthrough in the field of cancer treatment, an important contribution to the global cancer treatment technology, and a symbol of the firm declaration of the dignity and value of life.

 

The principle of boron neutron capture therapy is to utilize the accumulation of boron-containing drugs in tumor cells, and to carry out cellular-level radiation therapy through neutron-induced physical reactions. This combination of the advantages of targeted therapy and radiation therapy makes the treatment process more precise and effective and brings cancer patients a new hope for treatment.

Every design of HERON's Boron Neutron Capture Treatment Center has been carefully built, from the treatment room to the equipment room, from the hardware to the treatment software control system, which is the result of HERON's many years of efforts and a new milestone in the development of Taiwan's medical technology. We will continue to dedicate ourselves to technology research and medical innovation to create a bright future for Taiwan's medical industry. At the same time, we will also cooperate with the global medical community to promote the advancement of medical technology and contribute to the health of human beings.

HERON will promote the clinical application of boron neutron capture therapy. In March of this year, HERON has submitted for inspection and registration and is expected to obtain the Taiwan Medical Material License for Neutron Radiation Irradiation System in the third quarter of this year and apply for the clinical trial of Boron Neutron Capture Therapy at the same time.

The clinical trial will focus on recurrent head and neck cancer, and partner hospitals in North, Central and South Taiwan will participate in the trial. This represents that HORON has entered into a new stage of clinical application to bring advanced cancer treatment technology to patients in a faster and more effective way.

With the support of the government and all sectors of the society, HERON expects to promote the popularization of boron neutron capture therapy technology and bring revolutionary breakthroughs in cancer treatment to benefit more cancer patients.
